KHIAN'S JOURNEY
From Shy Student to Entrepreneurial Leader: The Journey of Khian Olaguer
Introduction
Not everyone starts with much. For me, the journey began with a simple exposure to small business through my mother’s hustle. Growing up, I learned the value of money early and fell in love with the idea of creating opportunities. What started as helping my mother, trying out different side hustles, and even working jobs at a young age has now evolved into a life of continuous learning, leadership, freelancing, and entrepreneurship. I am Khian Olaguer, a student, hustler, and entrepreneur whose story is still being written.
The Problem (Early Struggles)on
Like many aspiring entrepreneurs, I did not begin with abundance. I had limited resources, and I grew up shy and reserved, often barely speaking up. Still, I was determined to carve my own path. I agreed to almost any opportunity that came my way, even if I did not fully know how to do it, because I believed that every experience, whether success or failure, would teach me something valuable. My challenges were clear: how to make the most out of very little, how to keep learning, and how to grow from being a shy student into someone who could stand as a leader and entrepreneur.
The Process (Journey and Growth)
Stage 1 Hustler Mindset from Childhood
My entrepreneurial spirit started early. Helping my mother with her small business exposed me to the realities of work and money. I tried different ways to earn on my own, even working jobs at a young age. Every peso I earned carried meaning, and every small hustle became a stepping stone. These early experiences built my love for creating opportunities and taught me that hard work pays off.
Stage 2 Personal Growth and Leadership
Although I was once shy, I pushed myself to grow. I founded the Young Entrepreneurs Society from the ground up, starting with nothing. Over time, the organization became a recognized community in school. When people talked about entrepreneurship in campus, they remembered the work I had done together with my peers. I eventually became the President of this pioneering organization, and later, even when I stepped down, my influence continued. I also joined and was invited to regional organizations, proving to myself that I could go beyond my comfort zone. My principle has always been simple: lead by example.
Stage 3 Continuous Learning and Freelancing Journey
For me, every opportunity mattered. I would say yes to almost anything because I knew I would learn something new. Even failures became lessons for my self development. I began my freelancing journey while studying and handling leadership responsibilities. I balanced client demands with school requirements and personal goals. This taught me resilience, resourcefulness, and how to build something out of scratch. I learned to be good at what I was doing, even when I did not know how to do it at first. By trying, failing, and improving, I slowly grew stronger. Every problem I faced became lighter because my perspective changed, I saw challenges as training.
Stage 4 Building Padayon Media Creatives
Eventually, I established Padayon Media Creatives, a digital marketing agency based in Davao City. Our mission is simple, to help local entrepreneurs and business owners show up online with confidence and creativity. We provide content creation, branding, social media management, SEO, and training guides. More than just services, Padayon offers partnership. We see ourselves as creative partners who genuinely care for growth. The word Padayon means to keep moving forward, and it reflects not only our work but also my own philosophy in life.
The Results (Where I Am Now)
With every opportunity I took, my story grew stronger. I became a top student in our school, proving that mind, education, and hustle could work together. People often say Diskarte over diploma, but for me, I chose both. I worked hard in my academics while hustling outside the classroom. I received many awards in school, so many that some people already knew my name even if I did not know them personally. In a way, this became my personal branding. My consistency, hard work, and willingness to try made me known, not just within my school but also beyond. Today, I continue working as a freelancer with international clients and as the founder of Padayon Media Creatives. Every step reminds me that what I do works for me, and I keep doing it to become better at it.
The Process (Journey and Growth)
From my journey, I learned some important lessons: Start with what you have, no matter how small it seems. Keep moving forward, Padayon, because persistence changes everything. Leadership is about example, not just position. Say yes to opportunities, because even failure can teach you something valuable. Education, skills, and hustle can go hand in hand, you do not have to choose only one. Personal branding is built from consistency, passion, and showing up.
As the Bible reminds us: “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.” Zechariah 4:10
Conclusion
From childhood hustles to leading organizations, freelancing, and building my own digital marketing agency, my story is still a work in progress. What keeps me going is my belief in continuous learning and the spirit of Padayon, to keep moving forward. Every opportunity, every challenge, and even every failure has shaped me into the person I am becoming. If there is one thing I want others to learn from my journey, it is this, success is not about where you start, but about how willing you are to grow, to learn, and to keep moving forward.
